Viyu designed and helped deploy a comprehensive technology environment capable of supporting Shelton School’s new campus and its growing connectivity requirements.
01 — The Challenge
Shelton School was preparing to open a new 35-acre campus and needed to design and implement its IT and voice infrastructure within a demanding timeline.
The project became even more complex when the COVID-19 pandemic introduced construction delays, material shortages, and an unexpected transition to virtual learning.
At the same time, limitations in the school’s previous network — including slow speeds and coverage gaps — became increasingly problematic as hundreds of students and teachers began streaming video simultaneously.
Shelton needed a fast, reliable network capable of supporting virtual learning, current technology requirements, and future growth.
The new infrastructure also needed to integrate voice, wireless, power, security systems, lighting, and other connected technology throughout the campus.
02 — The Viyu Solution
Viyu began working with Shelton School and its project partners 18 months before construction was complete to ensure technology plans were in place well ahead of implementation.
Comprehensive IT Planning
Viyu collaborated with school leaders, IT staff, architects, engineers, and consultants to define requirements for Internet bandwidth, security, switching, structured cabling, wireless, voice communications, and power protection.
Campus-Wide Network Deployment
Viyu’s installation engineers deployed:
More than 1,200 switch ports
180 wireless access points
250 phones
40 pieces of power protection equipment
Secure IoT Connectivity
Devices requiring network or Internet connectivity were prioritized and separated using secure VLANs.
Construction Coordination
Viyu coordinated closely with the general contractor and subcontractors responsible for physical security, lighting, low-voltage cabling, electrical, and mechanical systems.
When construction delays occurred, Viyu staggered installations around the changing construction schedule.
Documentation & Ongoing Support
Viyu provided more than 80 pages of documentation to Shelton’s IT staff and continued supporting the environment after implementation.
